Step-by-Step Guides
Here are a few guides to make your fundraising a little easier.
Car Wash
1. Get adult support.
2. Have the adult post a notice about the car wash online including the time, date, and purpose (what the money is going to go to) 2-3 weeks before.
4. Wash the cars! You can hold up homemade signs to advertise the car wash, too. Note: it's helpful to have more than two people, plus a supervising adult
3. Buy supplies. (Car soap, sponges, buckets etc...)
Note: need working hose
5. Have fun!
Bake Sale
Making and Selling Cards
-
Buy baking supplies. (flour, eggs, oil, etc...)
-
Make what you are selling. (cookies, muffins, bread...)
-
Set up your stand, or walk around door to door selling your baked goods. Be sure to label food that contains nuts, gluten, dairy, or other common food allergies or intolerances.
Visit Sydney at Fix the Food BS (coming soon) for recipe tips on bake sales and more!
-
Design your cards. Be creative.
-
Pick where you want to sell your cards or if you want to walk door to door in a neighborhood.
-
Sell your cards.
Note: It's a good idea to sell the cards with another item to motivate people.
Making and Selling Homemade Soaps
Making and Selling Homemade Ornaments
-
First you make the soap. You don't have to really make it; you can just buy a soap base and add essential oils. When you really make soap, you have to use chemicals that are not good for you.
-
Next, you melt or make your soap base. I recommend melting it over your stove.
-
Add essential oils. Use about 1 tsp essential oils per half pound (8 ounces).
-
Mold your soap. I would mold it in a soap mold and let it sit for 2-4 days.
-
Sell your soap! I would recommend selling it with something else to get it to sell faster and better.
-
First, you make the ornaments. You can cut wooden ones, paint round ones, or bake cinnamon ones. (1 cup cinnamon, 3/4 cup applesauce, 2 tbsp glue)
-
Cut out your ornaments. I recommend using cookie cutters.
-
Decorate the ornaments. you can use glitter glue (Dollar Tree), paint, or anything you want!
-
Sell your ornaments. A good time to do so is right before Christmas, Chanukah, or holidays like that.
Yard Work
-
Ask around. Find someone who you trust, and tell them you are raising money for something. (What you are raising money for.) Make sure an adult is okay with this first and knows where you are going and when.
-
Gather supplies (shovels, rakes, gloves, buckets for weeds, etc.).
-
Pick a day to do the yard work. Make sure it won't rain that day.
-
Do some yard work! When you weed, make sure you get all of the roots out or the weeds will grow back. Some plants have thorns (like wild blackberry). To prevent from being poked, try to wear gloves.
Plant Selling
-
Plant your plants. You can sell fruits, vegetables, flowers, or you could even plant a garden and sell the things that grow in it. Make sure you start in the spring.
-
Transplant your plants after about six weeks. (If you can transplant them.) Transplant them into a pot or cup that has small holes in the bottom, and get ready to sell them.
-
It's time to sell your plants! Pick a warm, sunny day. Make sure you water your plants before selling them.
